Montini hits the road for the second consecutive week, traveling to River Grove to take on the Friars in a Chicago Catholic League crossover game. Both teams are coming off emotional wins; Montini defeated Loyola 28-27 in a come-from-behind effort, while Fenwick pulled out a 28-27 overtime win against St. Laurence. Montini’s defense has only allowed two touchdowns this season, but they will be tested by the athleticism of Cronin, a dual-threat player with great speed and a good arm. Cronin’s favorite target this year has been Wright, who can play both slot receiver and tight end. Montini’s offense struggled in the early stages of last week’s game against Loyola before Fedanzo kick-started the Broncos’ comeback with a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown after the Ramblers had gone ahead 21-0. Sophomore quarterback Robert Brazziel later tossed two touchdown passes to Nate Muersch and one to Scott West before finding Matt Ross on the game-winning two-point conversion play. Look for Montini’s offense to start strong this week and for the Bronco defense to contain Cronin and the rest of Fenwick’s skill players.

In lower-level action, the sophomore Broncos play at 5:30 on Friday, while the freshman team will host the Friars for a 9:30 AM kickoff on Saturday.
