Following last week’s 42-7 win over Woodstock North, Montini welcomes the Spartans to Lombard for a second-round match-up. The Bronco offense turned in a bounce-back effort last week, racking up 505 total yards of offense against the Thunder. Fedanzo carried the ball ten times for 168 yards and three touchdowns, leaving him just sixteen yards shy of 1,000. Robert Brazziel and Deontay Bell continue to split time at quarterback, as the two combined to go 11-for-16 for 173 yards and two touchdowns last week. Sycamore, which finished 3-6 last season and missed the playoffs, brings a tough defense that will test the Broncos, as the Spartans have allowed a touchdown or less in six of their ten games.

Offensive, Sycamore runs a unique scheme that combines double-wing formations with spread concepts. McConkey runs the offense efficiently and is a good dual-threat quarterback capable of making plays with both his legs and his arm. Egler gets the majority of the carries on the ground, but the Spartan offense features Connor Smith and Manuel Dominguez as wingbacks who will also get some carries. Lozeau and Justin Berlinski are the team’s leading receivers, while the offensive line plays a very physical game to open up holes for the backs. Montini’s defense limited Woodstock North to just 226 yards last week, all of which came via the run game. Fred Stokes, Mark Gabriel, and DiAndre Harris all recorded double-digit tackles, while Jermari Harris forced a fumble and recorded an interception. This week, look for the Bronco offense to continue where it left off last week, and for the defense to play physical against the Spartans’ power-run game.
