When: September 6th, 2019, 7:30 PM

Where: Montini Catholic High School 19W070 16th Street, Lombard, IL, 60148

2019 Records: Montini 1-0, Collins 0-1

Last meeting: This is the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Last week for the Broncos: Despite a prolonged offensive slump, Montini’s defense carried the Broncos for most of the contest, and two fourth quarter touchdowns allowed them to pull away from the host Hudson Raiders. Linebacker Trevor Swier led the defense with eight total tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery, and was named as a Player of the Week by the Daily Herald.

Scouting the Warriors: Collins enters having dropped their opener 50-14 against Westmont, a game in which the host Sentinels ran back the opening kickoff and maintained control of the game throughout. Despite a limited roster, Collins does have a good collection of skill players who were able to make some plays early in the contest. The Warriors love to throw the ball out of their spread offense, so expect them to test Montini’s secondary right away.

Lower-level outlook: The combined freshman/sophomore Broncos will host Kingdom Prep Lutheran from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, at 5:30 PM before the varsity game. This will be Kingdom Prep’s first ever football game in their second year of operation.

Did you know? Montini has hosted a Chicago Public League team for its home opener for three consecutive seasons. The Broncos opened with Hyde Park in Week 1 of both the 2017 and 2018 seasons, with the 2017 contest being Mike Bukovsky’s first game as head coach following the retirement of Chris Andriano.
