When: October 4th, 2019, 7:30 PM
Where: Notre Dame College Prep, 7655 W. Dempster Street, Niles, IL, 60714
2019 Records: Montini 4-1, Notre Dame 5-0
Last meeting: This is the first ever meeting between these two schools.
Last week for the Broncos: Facing a 14-13 fourth quarter deficit against St. Viator on Homecoming, Montini scored twenty unanswered points to defeat the Lions 33-14. The Broncos racked up 358 rushing yards in the win, with quarterback Deontay Bell recording 199 yards and three scores. Montini’s defense limited St. Viator to 181 total yards, with Jarin Edwards leading the way with twelve total tackles and a quarterback sack.
Scouting the Dons: Notre Dame enters this week’s contest undefeated, with their most recent victory being last week’s 14-0 win over St. Patrick. The Dons run a fast offense led by junior quarterback Anthony Sayles, a two-sport athlete who also excels for the Dons on the basketball court. Anthony Ranallo and Julian Schurr will carry the ball behind a large and aggressive offensive line, while Ranallo also starts at linebacker for a defensive unit that is limiting opponents to an average of eight points per game. Notre Dame’s stinginess on defense will be a tough task for Montini’s offense, which averages over 400 total yards per game.
Lower-level outlook: The freshman game will kick off at 5 PM on Friday, while the JV game will take place at 6 PM on Monday
Did you know? Two of Notre Dame’s most notable alums have served in executive roles for three of Chicago’s professional sports franchises. Michael McCaskey was chairman of the Bears from 1999 until 2011, while John McDonough was president of the Cubs from 1983 until 2007 and currently serves in the same position with the Blackhawks.
