2019 Records: Montini 5-2, DeLaSalle 3-4

Last meeting: Montini won 56-27 in 2017

Last week for the Broncos: Montini accepted a 1-0 forfeit win against St. Joseph, as the Chargers were unable to play due to injury and illness. The freshman Broncos played as scheduled and defeated Hinsdale Central 21-7.

Scouting the Meteors: DeLaSalle, coming off of a 27-21 loss to Mt. Carmel last week, enters this week’s contest fighting to remain playoff eligible. The Meteors’ offense revolves around Jason Moore, a speedy athlete who can play both quarterback and running back. He’s complemented by a speedy group of skill players and a physical offensive line. The Meteors defense gave them a chance to win last week, forcing two late fumbles against Mt. Carmel. Montini’s offense, led by quarterback Deontay Bell, will be tested by this physical and speedy unit.

Lower-level outlook: The combined freshman/sophomore Broncos will take on the Meteors at 5 PM on Friday before the varsity game.

Did you know? Last week’s result was the third time in their 54 year history that the Broncos were the recipients of a forfeit win. The prior two instances occurred in 1987 against Steinmetz and in 1992 against St. Edward.
