With a state championship repeat squarely in their minds, the 2010 Broncos started slowly, dropping a pair of non-conference contests to Joliet Catholic and Loyola Academy. However, Montini would not lose again for the rest of the season, steamrolling through the regular season and capturing the Suburban Christian Conference Blue title with a dramatic overtime win in week 9 against Marmion. Just like in 2009, the Broncos faced St. Francis in the first round of the playoffs, defeating the Spartans 21-14 in a game that came down to the final seconds. The Broncos then traveled to Sycamore for a second-round game and came away victorious with a 28-7 final score. The Broncos then hosted Marian Central in the quarterfinals in a game moved to Langhorst Field at Elmhurst College due to poor field conditions at John Duffy Memorial Stadium. Montini defeated the Hurricanes 24-10 in another close contest, then defeated the Kaneland Knights in the semifinal round to advance to their second consecutive Class 5A championship game, this time against Glenwood High School from Chatham. The Broncos jumped out to a 21-0 lead early and eventually prevailed 34-21 to capture their second straight state championship, but the real story of the day belonged to the defense, who harassed the Titans’ offense for all four quarters, forcing six sacks and three fumbles. Several Bronco players received multiple postseason honors, while receiver Jordan Westerkamp set single-season school records in receiving yards, passes caught, and receiving touchdowns.
